Keep Your Solid Wood Furniture Looking Great

  1. Dust regularly: Dusting the furniture regularly is one of the simplest and most effective ways to keep it clean. Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a feather duster to remove dust from the surface of the furniture. Avoid using abrasive cloths or harsh chemicals as they can damage the finish.
  2. Clean spills immediately: Spills can happen anytime, and it's essential to clean them immediately to prevent the wood from getting damaged. Use a soft cloth or paper towel to absorb the spill and then wipe the area with a damp cloth. Avoid using excess water as it can cause the wood to swell.
  3. Use coasters and placemats: Placing coasters and placemats on the furniture can protect it from spills, scratches, and heat damage. Use coasters under cups and glasses, and placemats under plates and bowls to avoid direct contact with the wood.
  4. Avoid placing hot items directly on the furniture: Placing hot dishes, pans, or cups directly on the surface of the furniture can cause heat damage and leave unsightly marks. Always use coasters, trivets, or potholders to protect the wood from heat. If you accidentally leave a hot item on the furniture, remove it immediately and gently buff the area with a soft cloth.
  5. Maintain humidity levels: Wood is sensitive to changes in humidity, and extreme fluctuations can cause it to warp or crack. Maintain a consistent humidity level in your home by using a humidifier or dehumidifier as needed.
